COVID 19 SECOND WAVE OF INFECTION: KADUNA ORDER CLOSURE OF SCHOOLS

The Kaduna State Government has ordered the closure of all schools in the state as part of measures to curb the increasing spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. 


The Commissioner for Education Alhaji Shehu Usman Muhammad disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday saying: 

 “The ministry wishes to inform the general public, parents, guardians and students of the date of school’s closure due to rising cases of COVID-19 infections in the state which shows a replicate of figures recorded in the first wave of the pandemic in April, May and June 2020. Indicating that a new wave of the infection is rapidly spreading across the state,” Alhaji Muhammad said. 


The Commissioner for Education noted that the new wave of COVID 19 infections is affected those between the age of 10-35 which are majorly those in schools.

Therefore, the ministry of education has mandated all schools in the state to conclude necessary arrangements and close on Wednesday, December 16. 


Kaduna has recorded 3941 number of confirmed coronavirus infections, the fourth-highest cases in the country. 

On Monday, December 14, the state recorded 74 new COVID 19 cases which was the highest record for that day.
