CROSS RIVER STATE GOVT BANS MOTORCYCLES IN CALABAR
Cross River's State Governor, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Otu, has approved the ban on all Okada riding in the major cities in Cross River State.
This comes as a result of ensuring a safe and secured Cross River to all citizens of the state after due consultation with key Security Chiefs in the state.
His directives stated as follows:
1. A total ban on the activities of all commercial motorcyclists within the Calabar metropolis.
2. Those willing to use their motorcycles to earn a decent living are restricted only to remote areas away from the city centre.
3. Anyone caught going against this directive will have the motorcycle impounded, and the offender prosecuted.
The Governor also added that those involved in criminal vandalization of public amenities like street lights, lamp posts, traffic lights etc are advised to desist forthwith, as culprits will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
