Delta Police Arrest Suspected Cultists, Armed Robbers; Recover AK-47 Rifle in Oghara Crackdown
The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing operations to dismantle armed criminal networks across Oghara and surrounding communities.
The success, achieved by the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) led by ASP Julius Robinson, follows earlier arrests made on November 24, 2025, during which confessed cultists were apprehended and a pump-action gun along with other incriminating items recovered.
Acting on fresh, credible intelligence, CP-SAT intensified surveillance and launched coordinated follow-up operations across key locations in Oghara. On November 25, 2025, operatives arrested two additional suspects linked to the criminal syndicate: 38-year-old Justice Ikutu and 55-year-old Peter Okomeje. The suspects were picked up at different hotspots within the town.
A further search at the residence of another associate, identified as Peter Kome, led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle fitted with a double magazine, along with other items believed to be connected to ongoing investigations into cult-related and armed robbery activities.
All suspects are currently in police custody as efforts continue to track and apprehend other members of the gang.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the swift action and professionalism of the CP-SAT team. He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to support the Command’s sustained fight against criminality in Delta State.
