Tragedy Strikes Ibadan: 6 Killed, 5 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accidents
A devastating road accident occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday morning, resulting in six fatalities and five injuries. The incident involved a trailer conveying tiles and a lorry loaded with soft drinks, which collided with two tricycles at Oke Eleshin, Amuloko on Akanran Road.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer's brake failure caused it to lose control and crush one tricycle, while the lorry attempting to avoid the trailer struck another tricycle. Among the injured was a pupil whose mother died in the crash. Four of the injured, including two primary school children, were taken to Amuloko City Hospital for treatment.
A staff member of the Oyo Road Transport Maintenance Agency attributed the accident to brake failure, stating, "The trailer was descending the slope when its brakes failed."
The accident caused significant gridlock, with passengers alighting and trekking. Two other cars were also damaged in the multiple accidents.
