Festive Season Security: Police Nab 128 Hoodlums, Raid Black Spots Across Nigeria
As the festive season draws near, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has ramped up efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens nationwide. Acting on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Force has intensified patrols, conducted raids on criminal hideouts, and bolstered crime prevention strategies.
In a series of operations across various states, these efforts have yielded significant results, including the arrest of 128 suspected hoodlums and the recovery of dangerous weapons. The NPF's proactive measures also thwarted a car theft attempt in Lagos State.
On December 14, 2024, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command raided multiple criminal hideouts in the Isolo area, apprehending 43 suspects. Items recovered included large quantities of cannabis, daggers, swords, and fetish materials.
A day later, on December 15, 2024, officers arrested one Charles Orji at Isheri Osun, Lagos State, while attempting to steal a Toyota Hilux vehicle. A search of the suspect revealed seven Toyota car keys, underscoring his alleged involvement in organized car theft.
The intensified security measures are not limited to Lagos State. Police operatives in other states, including Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Edo, Delta, Benue, and Niger, have heightened vigilance, executing coordinated raids and patrols to disrupt criminal activities.
These operations align with the NPF's mission to safeguard lives and property, especially during the yuletide season. The Force has pledged to sustain its efforts to deter crime and provide a secure environment for all Nigerians.
As festivities peak, the NPF urges citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities. The police remain resolute in their commitment to ensuring a peaceful and crime-free holiday season.
