Former Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Dambazau, Ohakim, Enang Make Tinubu’s Latest Ambassadorial Nomination List

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a fresh list of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, including former service chiefs and ex-public officials.

Among those nominated is Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, former Chief of Naval Staff and immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State. Others on the list are former senator Ita Enang; Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State; and Abdulrahman Dambazau, a former Minister of Interior and retired Chief of Army Staff.

These names were not part of the earlier batch of ambassadorial nominees forwarded by the presidency.

The nominations were conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary. President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the screening process to enable the nominees assume key diplomatic roles.

Akpabio has referred the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, directing the committee to conclude its screening and present its report within one week.

This latest submission follows earlier ambassadorial nominations by the president, which included Reno Omokri, former presidential aide; Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation; and Mahmood Yakubu, immediate past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
