GHANA HEALTH SERVICE SAYS ALL FOREIGN TRAVELLERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION OR BE VACCINATED AT THE AIRPORT
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that all foreigners must show proof of vaccination or be vaccinated at the airport
The Service, in a statement, said it deemed it necessary based on the resurgence of a new covid-19 Omicron variant.
It said the number of cases are expected to surge during the festive season, and that the spike in infections is already being reflected at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
Part of the statement reads; “The current increase in cases together with the detection of the Omicron variant among international arrivals end the expected Increase during the festive season call for urgent actions no prevent a major surge in COVID- 19 cases in Ghana’.
‘’Meanwhile all unvaccinated Ghanaians and residents who are currently outside the country and intend to return within 14 days from the midnight of 12th December 2021 are exempted.”
The GHS has directed that all persons 18 years and above arriving in Ghana from December 12 must provide proof of full vaccination.
The service added that other arrival requirements such as the 72-hour negative PCR test required prior to travel; completion of the health declaration form, and the antigen test required to be taken by all persons who arrive in Ghana remain unchanged.
