Gov Fubara Reacts to Suspension, Calls for Peace and Stability in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has addressed the people of the state following recent political developments, emphasizing his commitment to peace, governance, and constitutional order.

In a statement, Governor Fubara reassured residents that his administration remains dedicated to protecting lives and property while ensuring the continued progress of the state. He noted that, despite political tensions, his government has upheld the rule of law and prioritized the interests of Rivers people above all else.

Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention in the state’s political crisis, Fubara stated that his administration acted in good faith by implementing the agreed resolutions, including reinstating commissioners who had voluntarily resigned. Additionally, he affirmed that his government swiftly complied with the Supreme Court’s judgment upon receiving the certified true copy, demonstrating a commitment to legal and constitutional processes.

However, he expressed concern over persistent challenges posed by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, whom he accused of frustrating efforts to restore stability and unity in the state. Despite these obstacles, he assured that governance has not been disrupted, as salaries continue to be paid, development projects are ongoing, and the security situation remains stable.

Governor Fubara urged the people of Rivers State to remain peaceful and law-abiding, emphasizing that his administration will continue to engage with relevant institutions to uphold democracy and ensure the state’s progress. He called for resilience and patience in navigating the current political situation, expressing confidence in the democratic process.

"Rivers State remains safe, secure, and on the path of development under our watch. Let us continue to uphold peace and unity as we work towards a stronger and more prosperous state," he stated.

Fubara concluded by invoking divine blessings on Rivers State and Nigeria, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the people.
