I WILL PERSONALLY PATROL KADUNA BORDERS FROM MORNING TILL NIGHT ON SALLAH DAY - EL-RUFAI

El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State has said he would personally patrol the Kaduna-Kano borders on Salah day to avoid penetration of Kano residents.

El-Rufai made this known during a live chat with some radio stations on Tuesday, May 19, in the State.

El-Rufai said, as part of the measures put in place by his administration to curb the spread of Coronavirus, he will ensure that borders linking Kaduna and Kano are personally safe guided by him.

"I will remain there from morning till night to see [who] will dare enter Kaduna State. I will not leave until late at night."

The Salah celebration is slated to hold on Saturday or Sunday. It marks the end of the Islamic faithful fast.

Kaduna State Government said it has re-adjusted its window lockdown easing from Wednesday and Saturday to Wednesday and Thursday to ensure its residents shop for food and other essentials and to also ensure they stay at home during the weekend.

Recall, Kaduna State Government built concrete barricades on interstate highways to ensure its residents comply with lockdown order as a strategy to curb external penetration.

The barricades seem necessary to avoid human and vehicular movements within the State since residents were flouting the lockdown order, which made the State intensify efforts to flatten the curve of Coronavirus and avoid a resurgence.

The Governor reiterated that residents have not been adhering to the ban on interstate travels as new cases recorded in the State are traced to those who had travel history.

He added that Security agents on high ways abet penetrations by collecting bribes from commuters despite the ban on interstate travels.
