BREAKING: NIGERIA RECORDS HIGHEST EVER DAILY COVID-19 CASES
Nigeria recorded 2,314 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, 22nd January – its highest ever daily surge, surpassing its previous record of 1,964 daily infections reported on 21st January.
The latest report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows that the total COVID-19 cases in the country have increased to 118,969.
Of the 2,314 new Infections, 831 were discovered in Lagos, 545 in Kaduna, and 235 in FCT.

The deaths from COVID-19 disease in Nigeria have also increased to 1,497 with twelve additional deaths reported on Friday.
Of the 118,969 cases so far, 94,877 patients have been discharged after treatment.
Within the last six days, 77 persons have lost their lives to COVID-19 complications in Nigeria.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 15,14, 7, and 12 daily deaths were recorded respectively.
Last Friday, Nigeria announced its deadliest day of the pandemic with 23 lives lost - the country’s highest daily fatality toll.
In the past four weeks, there have been over 200 fatalities from COVID-19 complications in Nigeria.
Lagos State being the epicentre of the infection in Nigeria has been topping the chart since the emergence of the virus in March 2020.
