GUNMEN KILL LOCAL GOVERNMENT DIRECTOR IN EKITI

Unknown gunmen have killed Mr David Jejelowo, a director in the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission.


Jejelowo was murdered on Monday, September 14th, 2020, in his residence at Umesi Street, Igirigiri area of Ado Ekiti.


The Spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, ASP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.


Abutu said the gunmen invaded the director’s residence around 1am on Monday and shot him dead in his room.

He said investigation have commenced to unravel the intentions and purpose of the assassins.


He said; “I can confirm to you that the man named David Jejelowo was killed at his residence at Umesi Street, Odo Ado area of Ado Ekiti early this morning (Monday) by assailants.


“He was killed in his room by assailants whose intention we have not been able to establish as of now.”


The Spokesperson assured the public that the assailants shall be arrested and brought to justice.


He added that the corpse of the director had been deposited in the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.


ASP Abutu admonished residents of Igirigiri to assist security operatives with useful information that can checkmate killings and other crimes in the State.
