HEALTH WORKER IN GOMBE DIES OF CORONAVIRUS

A health worker in Gombe State has died from Coronavirus complications.


The deceased is a Senior Registrar in Paediatrics with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.


This was confirmed by Idris Mohammed, the chairman of the Gombe COVID-19 Task Force.


The chairman told newsmen in Gombe that the deceased died three days ago and he was the first health worker to die of the virus in the State.


Eons Intelligence had reported on June 11th, 2020, that seven health workers in  Rivers State had tested positive to the Coronavirus disease. Similarly, on May 16th, 2020, it reported that 16 health workers in Bauchi State tested positive to the dreadful disease.


The total number of health workers infected with Coronavirus in Nigeria is 820.


According to the NCDC, as of June 12th, 2020, Gombe has recorded 293 cases of COVID-19.


Of the 293 cases, 146 are active and are on admission, 135 discharges have been made, and 12 deaths have been recorded.
