High-profile Terrorist Leaders Neutralized in Kidal Operation
The Malian Armed Forces have announced the successful neutralization of several senior terrorist leaders during a large-scale operation conducted on Sunday, December 1, 2024, in Tinzaouatène, Kidal region.
The Chief of Defense Staff emphasized that this operation demonstrates FAMa's professionalism and Mali's unwavering commitment to counterterrorism and national security.
Among those neutralized were key figures, including Choghib Ag Attahar, Albaraka Ag Alfaki, Moussa Ag Baye Diknane, Bachara Ag Ahmed, Fahd Ag Almahmoud, Mohamed Ag Acherif (alias Mafik), Sidi Ag Bay, and Jamal Ag Albaraka. These individuals were reportedly responsible for planning attacks targeting civilians and military personnel across the region.
Tinzaouatène, identified as a critical base for terrorist activities, had been under surveillance for months. The operation disrupted the group’s leadership structure, weakening its ability to coordinate attacks and significantly reducing its operational capacity.
The Chief of Defense Staff praised the professionalism and bravery of the troops involved, urging citizens to avoid associating with terrorist elements. He reassured the public of the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring stability in the region.
“Together, we will prevail,” he stated, reaffirming the determination of Mali’s armed forces to achieve lasting peace and security.
