JOINT SECURITY FORCES FOIL KIDNAP ATTEMPT AT KWARA PRAYER GROUND

On Wednesday, the Kwara state police Command in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group Nigeria thwarted an attempted kidnapping of a group of Muslims in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.


The information available indicates that the nine armed men wielding AK-47 rifles and dane-guns on 24th July 2024 infiltrated the camp of Alfa Bukhari Jamiu Tunde along Okolowo-Jebba highway at Oluwalose community, and attempted to kidnap a group of Muslims who gathered to offer prayers. 


However, having received intelligence information, the police operatives with the synergy of the Vigilante members swiftly moved to the location and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel.


During the altercation, a man and his wife from Lagos sustained bullet injuries inflicted by the kidnappers and were quickly rushed to the hospital for medical attention where they were treated and discharged.


Meanwhile, the police have stationed the patrol team in the area for thorough search for the assailants while the investigation into the incident has commenced.
