LAGOS CP MEETS SARS OPERATIVES OVER IGP DIRECTIVES
Hakeem Odumosu, Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, on Monday, October 5, had an emergency meeting with operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in the State on the strict adherence to the directives issued by Nigeria's Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The IGP on Sunday, October 4, banned the SARS personnel and other tactical squads from carrying out routine patrols and other conventional duties.
This was on the heels of several complaints from frustrated Nigerians over the incessant killing, harassment, and exploitation from the SARS personnel.
This include stop and search duties, checkpoints mounting of roadblocks, and traffic checks.
The IGP directed that the SARS personnel are only to respond to cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.
