LAWMAKER CONDEMNS KILLING OF DISTRICT HEAD, SON BY SUSPECTED FULANI HERDSMEN IN KADUNA
Amos Gwamma Magaji, a member representing Zango/Jaba Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has condemned the killings of the District Head of Gidan Zaki, Haruna Kuye and his son in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The lawmaker attributed the killings to a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to disrupt the relative peace process that the ethnic groups in the area had initiated.
Eons Intelligence on November 17 reported that unknown gunmen killed Kuye and his son after they invaded their residence in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to a statement by the State Commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the wife of the district head sustained injuries from machete cuts while her daughter had a gunshot wound on her finger.
The State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai had condemned the killings and also described it as evil and violation of the sanctity of human lives by "enemies of peace who must be fished out and made to face the wrath of the law."
Magaji, in a statement, described the killings as evil and a violation of the sanctity of human lives.
He lamented that the killings happened at a time the State Government and relevant stakeholders were working to ensure that normalcy and peace are restored in the area.
The lawmaker said he had spoken with a State Government official who told him that Governor El-Rufai had vowed not to relent in bringing the perpetrators to book.
Magaji appealed to his constituents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies and also provide useful information that would lead to the arrest of those who carried out the evil act.
