Libyan Authorities Arrest Six Nigerians over Drug Trafficking in Tripoli
Libya's Stability Support Agency's Department of Investigation has arrested six Nigerian nationals—one male and five females—on charges of drug trafficking.
The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, and were found in possession of significant quantities of cocaine intended for distribution.
The seized narcotics have been handed over to authorities for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Migrant Rescue Watch, a humanitarian organization, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Monday. According to the statement, the suspects have been referred to public prosecution for legal proceedings.
The statement read: “Stability Support Agency - Dept. of Investigation dismantled a drug trafficking gang in Tripoli and arrested 6 #migrants (1 male and 5 females) of Nigerian nationality. The accused were found in possession of large quantities of cocaine ready for distribution. All are referred to public prosecution for legal action.”
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating drug trafficking and illegal activities in Libya, especially in regions with high migrant activity.
