Nationwide Fuel Price Drop Looms as PETROAN Secured Deal with MRS Filling Stations
Retail outlet owners under the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have commenced registration with MRS filling stations to acquire Dangote petrol at N935 per litre.
Speaking on the development, PETROAN President stated that the association’s members are collaborating with MRS to access products, as Dangote and Port Harcourt (PH) refineries are yet to begin direct product distribution.
“From today (Monday), we expect a seamless distribution process to facilitate price reductions at retail outlets nationwide,” the PETROAN president noted.
He explained that while products from the Dangote and Port Harcourt refineries are not yet available, some members are already offering fuel at lower prices in Abuja.
“The Dangote pricing model brings value to our members, and partnering with MRS allows us to sell at N935 per litre nationwide. MRS has opened its doors to accommodate as many members as possible, and we began member registrations on Sunday morning. This is a positive step, and we hope the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) will also support this initiative,” he added.
The president expressed optimism about the sector's growth, highlighting the advantages of economies of scale offered by the Dangote refinery and the ongoing efforts by NNPCL to ensure a steady product supply.
He further outlined plans to assess the logistics and distribution framework across the country to determine potential cost reductions. “When refiners lower prices and we can purchase directly, Nigerians will benefit. That is the core focus of PETROAN,” he said.
Reiterating the association’s commitment to affordable pricing, he assured that fuel prices would gradually decline, though with some fluctuations. “Price reductions won’t be static, but the trajectory is clear. Armchair projections do not reflect the complexities of the market,” he concluded.
