NDA: HOW BANDITS INVADED MILITARY BASE AND KILLED TWO OFFICERS

Bandits on Tuesday morning attacked the Nigerian Defense Academy in Afaka, Kaduna North LGA, killing two Military officers and abducting one.

Sources say the assailants, in their large numbers, gained access into the campus around 1.25am by breaching the barbwire fence of the academy along the airport road in Afaka.

Eons Intelligence gathered that the bushy areas close to the fence in the officers' quarters made it easy for the bandits to hide themselves during their escape.

It was observed that the attackers infiltrated five different flats in the same block and performed their operation swiftly before the intervention of the troops.

It is believed that the bandits escape route leads across the airport road to a bushy area near Gidan Gado village in Afaka. The assailants are suspected to have escaped to Buruku and Maguzawa or the Riyawa axis in Igabi LGA which is a notorious hideout for bandits in Kaduna.

Efforts are ongoing as troops and other security agents in the State partner to rescue the abducted officer. The security apparatus in the NDA also needs to be improved upon to avert a future reoccurrence.

Wednesday’s attack on the NDA prompted the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, to visit the campus in Kaduna State for an on-the-spot assessment of the attack.

General Irabor’s visit is to get first-hand information on the incident for further actions.

He was briefed on arrival by the NDA Commandant, Major General IM Yusuf before he was taken to the scene of the incident.
