
NDLEA Arrests Businessman Who Excreted 127 Cocaine Wraps at Kano Airport, Uncovers Meth in Ceramics
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, after he excreted 127 wraps of cocaine concealed in his body.
Ejiofor, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 on October 8, 2025, following credible intelligence. A body scan confirmed he had ingested and concealed illicit drugs in his private part. NDLEA officers immediately recovered 58 wraps of cocaine from his underwear, after which he was placed under excretion observation. Within seven excretions, he expelled 69 additional pellets, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.
In a related operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs bound for the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos between October 9 and 10. The seizures included 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in glass ceramics, 114 grams and 168 grams of pentazocine and tramadol injections respectively, and 48 grams of tramadol capsules hidden in a Vitamin C container. Similarly, attempts to ship 2.6 kilograms of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol (250mg) concealed in black soap tablets to Turkey were foiled. Other shipments intercepted include 169 grams of cocaine hidden in ladies’ handbags destined for Australia, and 568 grams of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, concealed in herbal containers bound for the United Arab Emirates.
At the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, NDLEA officers intercepted 27,510 pills of rohypnol concealed in sachets of alcoholic drinks heading to South Africa. Initial arrests of a freight agent and a cab driver linked to the consignment led to the capture of the prime suspect, 46-year-old Samuel Omoruyi, also known as Yellow, at Oyingbo Market on October 2. That same day, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen, was arrested while attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol (225mg) and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol (200mg) hidden in food items. He confessed to trafficking the drugs for another person for a fee of €945.
In Edo State, NDLEA raided the home of a suspect, Emmanuel Sunday, 33, at Ugbekpe Ekperi in Etsako Central LGA, recovering 47 kilograms of skunk. In Osun State, two suspects, Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo, 48, and Oladejo Taiwo, 52, were arrested on October 8 at Omifufun village, Ife South LGA, with 635 kilograms of skunk in a Toyota Hiace bus. Two others, Timothy Omiwole, 41, and Isaac Achiatan, 36, were also apprehended at the same location with 100 kilograms of the substance.
In Rivers State, operatives arrested Okoro Julius, 20, and Onyebuchi Nwibo, 25, in different areas of Port Harcourt, recovering 8.5 kilograms of skunk on October 10. Likewise, Sulaiman Kalalu, 46, was nabbed in Jibia town, Katsina State, after 29.5 kilograms of the same substance were found in his residence. In Niger State, NDLEA arrested Yisa Daniel, 29, at New Bussa with 22,000 tramadol capsules, 800 pentazocine ampoules, and 150,000 exol-5 pills. In Ondo State, 312 kilograms of skunk were discovered in a bush at Ologede Camp, Ogbese, while 141.8 kilograms of the drug were seized from Francis John, 39, and Adeyemi Taiwo, 46, along the Benin–Lagos expressway on October 9. In Kaduna State, Rufai Ahmed, 27, also known as Farin Malam, was arrested at the Abuja–Kaduna toll gate while conveying 150,000 exol-5 pills from Lagos to Katsina.
Meanwhile, the agency’s commands and formations across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization programs in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities. Benefiting institutions include General Murtala Mohammed College, Yola (Adamawa); Assembly of God Secondary School, Abakaliki (Ebonyi); Community Girls Secondary School, Bakori (Katsina); Girls Secondary School, Nenwe (Enugu); Day Secondary School, Tungan Mallam (Niger); Sacred Heart Secondary School, Kabba (Kogi); Ebenezer Model Secondary School, Onitsha (Anambra); Government Secondary School, Borikiri (Rivers); Government Junior Secondary School, Wakili Bawa (Kano); and Baptist High School, Ede (Osun), among others.
Commending the officers and men involved in the various operations, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), lauded their professionalism and resilience, urging them to sustain their efforts in combating illicit drug trafficking and abuse across Nigeria.
