Nigerian Army Unveils Housing Project, Honors Wounded Soldiers in Abuja

The Nigerian Army has inaugurated the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) housing project in Idu, Abuja on 18th December 2024. The project consists of 100 blocks of four flats, providing accommodation for 400 families. This initiative fulfills a promise by the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja CFR, who ensured 5% of the units were allocated to soldiers wounded in action (WIA).

The launch ceremony was graced by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, as the Special Guest of Honour. Speaking at the event, General Musa commended the project as a testament to the Army's unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.


The current Chief of Army Staff expressed pride in advancing his predecessor’s vision and reiterated his pledge to prioritize the well-being of soldiers. "This project underscores our enduring support for the men and women who dedicate their lives to the defense of our nation," he stated.

Key moments of the event included the symbolic handover of keys to wounded soldiers, a tour of the housing units, cultural performances, and a group photograph to honor the bravery and resilience of the soldiers celebrated.
