OGUN PDP CRISIS: ICE COMPELS BAYO DAYO TO STEP DOWN AS CHAIRMAN

The Ijebu Igbo Council of Elders ICE has compelled Engr. Bayo Dayo to step down as the Chairman of Ijebu-Igbo Council of Elders (ICE) for his involvement in "partisan politics and the on-going political imbroglio" in PDP Ogun State chapter.

Bayo Abiodun, the estranged chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun State chapter had been embroiled in a power tussle since April following his suspension as the PDP chairman in the state over alleged anti-party activities.

ICE in a letter to Engr. Dayo appreciated his activities during his tenure as chairman but expressed their worry that the on-going political imbroglio is "capable of bruising our collective sensibilities as a foremost group and the voice of the Ijebu Igbo Kingdom."

Hence the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Council, resolved that he should "step down forthwith us as the Council's Chairman."

ICE reiterated that their action is neither political nor judgemental. Instead, it is borne out of concern that if the chairman and members are enmeshed in unhealthy politics, it could divide the membership of the Council and the Orimolusi Kingdom along political lines.

"Please note that by this action, the BOT is not being judgmental, rather the BOT, a strictly non-political organization feels that it will not be healthy for the ICE or ICE BOT if its Chairman and members are embroiled in controversial and unhealthy partisan political issues that could divide the membership of the Council and the Orimolusi Kingdom along political lines," the Council said.
