DEARTH OF FUEL SUPPLY CRIPPLES BOKO HARAM'S ACTIVITIES. SECT BEGINS HAUNT FOR PETROL
Boko Haram ISWAP units are struggling to launch major attacks as sources indicate the group is running out of access to Petrol. The desperation has resulted in ambush attacks along motorways in search of petroleum.
As received the military effort and strategy of banning sales of fuel around Gaidam town has yielded positive results. This effort has made it difficult for the BHT ISWAP units to have easy access to fuel, forcing units to resort to road blockage along the Maiduguri-Damaturu - to steal fuel from logistic tankers. Where it is impossible to steal and drive the Tanker into bushes, yellow jerry cans are used to transport the fuel from the Tanker and flee.
Suggestion
Fuel logistics organisations should be aware of this development and only transport fuel on secured convoys. The jihadists have now set up plans to ambush fuel tankers en route to Maiduguri-Damaturu after information of such vehicle(s) are received from their informants.
Incident Example
A local journalist was in a convoy that was blocked by BH/ISWAP on Tuesday 3/11/2020 about 2km from Jakana FOB. He noticed that the jihadists were targeting a petrol tanker (33,000litres of PMS or diesel). They used yellow jerry cans to offload the petrol from the truck and disappeared.
