IMO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY IMPEACHES SPEAKER

The Imo State House of Assembly has impeached its speaker, Mr Chiji Collins.


Collins was impeached on Friday, November 13, during a plenary at the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex in Owerri.


When the motion of the former speaker’s impeachment was moved, it was supported by 19 out of the 27 members of the House.


Collins was impeached over allegations of financial misappropriation.


Paul Emeziem from Onuimo constituency was elected as the new Speaker of the House.
