Commander 6 Brigade Flags Off FOB Wukari, Orders Troops to Neutralize Security Threats
In a strategic move to reinforce security operations and consolidate recent gains in Southern Taraba, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, officially flagged off the newly established Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Wukari Local Government Area on Tuesday, June 18, 2025.
Speaking during the ceremony, Brigadier General Uwa addressed troops deployed to the new base, urging them to uphold the highest standards of discipline, vigilance, and professionalism in their duties. He emphasized the need for strict protection of military assets and called for sustained dominance of their area of responsibility to prevent criminal elements—including bandits and terrorists—from operating freely.
“The military presence here must send a clear message that there is no hiding place for those who threaten the peace and security of our communities,” he said.
To demonstrate operational readiness and build community trust, the Commander immediately led a confidence-building patrol through Wukari town and its environs. The exercise was aimed at reassuring residents of the Army’s firm commitment to protecting lives and property.
The establishment of the Forward Operating Base is expected to significantly boost the Army’s rapid response capabilities, improve intelligence gathering, and strengthen civil-military relations in the region. The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Nigerian Army to restore and sustain peace across Taraba State and beyond.
