Ogun State Governor Signs N1.054 Trillion 2025 Budget Into Law, Unveils Development Plans

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has signed the N1.054 trillion 2025 State Appropriation Bill into law. The signing ceremony, held at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, was attended by key dignitaries, including the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, other House principal officers, the Deputy Governor, and members of the State Executive Council.

Governor Abiodun, while receiving the clean copies of the bill, highlighted the administration’s ambitious plans for the coming months. Among the key initiatives is the signing of a partnership agreement with stakeholders to advance the development of the Olokola Deep Sea Port, which he declared “back on track.”

“In the coming months, we will finalize the partnership agreement for our port development,” he stated. “Additionally, we will sign more Memoranda of Understanding with private sector players in renewable energy, energy transition, agriculture, and other sectors to drive economic growth.”

Governor Abiodun detailed plans to enhance basic infrastructure across the state, with a particular focus on roads, healthcare, education, and agriculture. Key arterial roads, including the Ijebu-Ode-Epe, Sagamu-Abeokuta, Atan-Lusada-Agbara, Ota-Abeokuta, and Ilaro-Owode roads, will remain priorities to boost socio-economic development and attract more residents and industries.

He also emphasized the administration’s commitment to agriculture, with plans to expand into animal husbandry for domestic consumption and export. "We intend to join the league of states producing beef and pork not just for local consumption but for export,” he announced.

On healthcare and education, Governor Abiodun reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to providing conducive learning environments for students and improving access to healthcare at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by federal economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abiodun expressed solidarity with citizens and assured them of continued support through palliatives to ease the impact of these policies.

“It has been a challenging year for everyone. Our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has introduced bold reforms aimed at making the country solvent. While these reforms have unintended consequences, we are committed to helping our people navigate this period,” he said.

Governor Abiodun concluded with optimism for the state’s future, expressing confidence in the administration’s capacity to deliver on its promises and ensure sustainable development for Ogun State.
