Ondo State Cult Violence Claims Four Lives, Including Mother and Child
A violent confrontation between suspected rival cult groups has tragically claimed four lives, including a mother and her infant, in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area in Ondo State.
Among the deceased was Fisayo Oladipo, popularly known as Fissey Ehin Ogbe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to reports, Oladipo and another individual were fatally shot during the clash, which occurred on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Tragically, the mother and her infant were killed by stray bullets during the incident.
The remains of the victims have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre morgue in Owo, pending further investigation.
Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident, noting that law enforcement officers were swiftly deployed to restore order in the area.
"Four people have been confirmed dead, but normalcy has returned through the intervention of the police. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of this act," she stated.
Authorities have launched an investigation to bring those responsible for the deadly clash to justice and prevent further violence in the community.
