MILITARY FOILS ATTACK ON POLICE CHECKPOINT, KILLS THREE UNKNOWN GUNMEN IN ENUGU

The Nigerian Military's Sector 5 of Exercise GOLDEN DAWN deployed in Enugu, have neutralised three unknown gunmen who allegedly attacked a Nigerian Police checkpoint along Okija-Onitsha expressway this weekend.

Eonsintelligence gathered that the Military engaged and overwhelmed the gunmen with superior firepower, forcing them to flee the scene.

The soldiers gave them a hot pursuit, and engaged the suspects in a gun duel. The three gunmen were said to be in a Hilux and Hummer bus vehicles.

They eventually succumbed to troops’ higher firepower, while others fled the scene with various degrees of gunshot injuries.

One other vehicle and two motorcycles were reportedly recovered from the scene, even as search for the fleeing members of the gang continued.

However, it was also reported that the Nigerian troop lost a soldier in the battle.

The Chief of Army Staff has commended the unit for their gallantry and urged them to sustain the momentum against all criminal elements operating in the region. He also sympathised with the family of the fallen hero and prays for the repose of his soul.
