OPC RAISES ALARM OVER ARRIVAL OF 300 SUSPICIOUS LOOKING FULANI HERDSMEN IN IBADAN COMMUNITY
Residents of the Maje,Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State are in palpable fear as 300 suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly arrived the community on Monday, November 9.
The Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in the State, Rotimi Olumo, told The Punch that residents of the area alerted him immediately they saw three luxury buses that conveyed the men to the area.
Olumo said the residents prevented the suspecting herdsmen from disembarking from the vehicles, as the area is not Sabo, a popular settlement for northerners.

The OPC head said he alerted the police and some policemen from Sanyo Police Station were deployed.
Olumo told The Punch that: “I received a series of calls this morning that some luxury buses brought some Fulani and Bororo herdsmen numbering about 300 to the area. They came around 07 am today. I went to the place and discovered that all the passengers in the vehicles are Fulani and Bororo.
“There is no Igbo, no Yoruba among them. This made the people suspicious and we have to be vigilant because of the security situation all over the country. We asked them questions but they refused to disclose their destination. So, we invited the police to come and see them.
“Policemen came from Sanyo Police Station and their response was very prompt. They took the buses to their station and parked them there before I left. One of the Fulani people came down to talk with the police but I didn’t know what they discussed. But everybody must be vigilant.”

However, when Eons Intelligence contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Olugbenga Fadeyi, he said he was not aware of the development.
Eons Intelligence recalls that unknown bandits on June 2, invaded three communities in the Akinyele Government Area (LGA) in Oyo State and killed three people.
The attack took place in Ikereku, Pade, and Olanla villages.
Sources in the communities claimed the assailants were suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The assailants were said to have invaded the villages and the farmlands with guns and shot them dead.
Sequel to the attack, the Oyo State Police spokesman said two of the suspects have been arrested and security personnel have been mobilized to the village to arrest the other suspects.
