Operation FANSAN YAMMA: troops rescue 25 kidnapped victims in Katsina, Zamfara
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 25 kidnapped victims during separate operations in Katsina and Zamfara states.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 1 encountered terrorists during a night patrol around Kwanar Kura in Sabuwa LGA. The terrorists reportedly fled into nearby bushes after coming under heavy fire. Troops pursued them and rescued two victims who had earlier been abducted along the Dandume–Damari Road. Two motorcycles were also recovered.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 rescued 23 abducted civilians, comprising three males and 20 females, during a fighting patrol on the outskirts of Wuya Town in Anka LGA.
Preliminary debriefing indicated that the victims were abducted from Gummi LGA and had spent about three weeks in terrorist captivity. They were evacuated for medical attention and further debriefing.
The latest operations highlight the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to disrupt terrorist activities, rescue captives and protect communities across the North-West.
