Operation Lafiyan Jamaa: Military Gains Ground in Taraba, Foils Kidnapping, Wins Hearts in Andamin
Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have achieved significant breakthroughs in Taraba State under the ongoing military operation codenamed *Operation Lafiyan Jamaa*. The operation continues to make headway in flushing out bandits and criminal elements, leading to the restoration of peace in many communities across the state.
One of the latest successes was recorded in Andamin community, Karim Lamido Local Government Area, where the youth have expressed profound gratitude to the Nigerian Army for its efforts in securing the region.
During a solidarity visit to the troops' camp, the Andamin Youth Leader, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, speaking on behalf of the community’s youth, praised the commitment and sacrifices of the soldiers. He noted the improved security in the area and pledged continued support to the military.
As a token of appreciation, the youths announced plans to drill a borehole at the troops' camp to enhance their welfare. The project, fully funded by the community, is expected to be completed within three days.
In a related development, troops acted on credible intelligence on April 3, 2025, and responded swiftly to a kidnapping incident in Kallong village, also in Karim Lamido LGA. Their timely intervention forced the kidnappers to abandon their victims and flee the area. Four individuals were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families.
The Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Brigade's commitment to protecting lives and securing all communities under its jurisdiction.
He also encouraged residents to continue sharing timely and reliable information to support military efforts in eliminating criminal elements from the region.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its dedication to its constitutional mandate and called on all peace-loving citizens to remain supportive in the quest to restore lasting peace and stability in Taraba State.
