Oyo Police Dismiss Reports of Rescue of Abducted Pupils, Teachers
The Oyo State Police Command has refuted reports circulating in some sections of the media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area have regained their freedom.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command described the reports as inaccurate and without any factual basis, urging members of the public to disregard the claims.
According to the police, there has been no confirmed release or rescue of the victims as of the latest update, contrary to information being circulated online and in some media outlets.
The Command reassured residents and the families of the abducted victims that security agencies are continuing intensive efforts to secure their safe release. It noted that ongoing rescue operations involve the deployment of both personnel and operational resources aimed at locating the victims, ensuring their safe return, and bringing those responsible for the abduction to justice.
The police further urged the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports that could undermine ongoing security operations.
