POLICE NAB FOUR ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS, SEIZE FIREARMS, RECOVER STOLEN ITEMS IN ENUGU

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has affirmed the Police Force's unwavering dedication to upholding security and order in the state, especially during the festive season. This commitment follows the recent arrest of four male suspects involved in armed robbery, unlawful possession of ammunition, and fraudulent ATM card swapping. The operation led to the recovery of two firearms, live cartridges, and various ATM cards from different banks.


In a swift response to a distress call on December 7, 2023, at around 5 p.m., Police Operatives from Independence Layout Police Division apprehended Chukwudi Nweze, 29, in Phase 2 of Independence Layout. One locally fabricated pistol was seized from the suspect, while his accomplices managed to escape.


Additionally, on November 26, 2023, around 10:45 p.m., operatives from New Haven Police Division intercepted and arrested Chibuike Omeje, 26, along Chime Avenue in New Haven, Enugu. Despite his cohorts escaping, a locally fabricated double-barrelled pistol was confiscated.


In a separate incident, Police Operatives from Number 3 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Enugu conducted a routine stop and search along the Enugu/Onitsha expressway on December 6, 2023, at about 11:50 a.m. They successfully apprehended Alozie Clinton Chidubem, 22, in possession of two live cartridges.


Furthermore, on December 6, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Police Operatives from Uwani Police Division collaborated with security personnel from a commercial entity along Agbani Road, resulting in the arrest of Aneke Felix Ogbonna, 26. The suspect and his accomplices, who evaded capture, were involved in the covert act of swapping ATM cards of unsuspecting bank customers. Numerous ATM cards from various banks were recovered, and the suspect confessed to multiple instances of fraudulent ATM card swapping with his criminal associates who remain at large.
