POLICE REPEL ROBBERS, NAB ONE IN OGUN STATE

The operatives of Ogun State Police Command with the synergy of Amotekun corps in Abeokuta on Wednesday 12th April 2023 at about 1730hrs repelled the armed robbery gang that invaded the popular phone market in Oke-Ilewo area, via Panseke, Abeokuta, Ogun State.


The information available indicates that the suspected armed robbery gang of about eight in number allegedly stormed the market popularly known as “TARMARC”, shooting sporadically and carting away expensive phones.


Hence, a distress call was quickly made to the police at Ibara divisional headquarters, swiftly the Divisional Police Officer Ibara division, Chief Superintendent of Police, Abayomi Adeniji quickly mobilized his anti-robbery and surveillance teams in collaboration with men of Amotekun corps and moved to the scene.

The robbers then engaged the security men in a gun duel on sighting them but due to the superior firepower of the policemen, the criminals took to their heels. They were immediately chased and with the assistance of the market men, one of the robbers identified as Adeniji Sakiru 32 years old was apprehended.


Meanwhile, one Dayo Bankole, a trader in the market, who was shot by the robbers unfortunately gave up the ghost while receiving treatment at the hospital, one double barrel locally made gun and terrestrial evil charms were confiscated from the arrested robber while a massive manhunt is ongoing for the remaining members of the gang.
