PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S AIDE DENIES WRITING FAKE NEWS AGAINST VICE PRESIDENT YEMI OSINBAJO AND FEMI FALANA

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari has denied writing a false report for the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Nigerian SAN, Femi Falana.


Sahara Reporters on Friday, July 17, alleged that Garba Shehu has been identified as the ghostwriter who purportedly published a false report which claimed that the suspended Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu gave Vice President Yemi Osinbajo N4 billion and Nigerian SAN, Femi Falana N28 million from the proceeds of alleged looted funds.

In response, President Buhari’s media aide released a statement saying: 


“I don’t write stories for the News Agency of Nigeria. NAN did not at anytime write any such rubbish against the respected Vice President. It was Jackson Ude, who the VP reported to the police who published the false allegation.”

Recall that Eons Intelligence reported that Professor Osinbajo on Thursday, July 9 petitioned the Inspector of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to investigate the allegations levelled against him by PointBlank news owned by a Jackson Ude, a former Director of Strategy and Communications, claiming that he received N4 billion naira from the embattled Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu.


 Osinbajo further stated that if the investigations carried out by the police prove that the claim made by Jackson Ude is false, then IG of Police should initiate criminal proceedings against the purveyor of the false news.
