RAIN: LAGOSIANS FILL SOCIAL MEDIA WITH IMAGES OF FLOODED AREAS IN THE STATE
The rains are here, and once again, Lagosians have to battle with the flood because of the bad roads and blocked drainage systems.
The Commissioner for Environment in Lagos State, Mr. Tunji Bello, alerted residents in March to prepare for 240 to 270 days of rainfall in 2020.
Yet the rains have barely started, and Lagosians have started groaning in pain, leaving one to wonder why adequate measures were not put in place to mitigate the effects of the rain.
“Nawaooo I could not get to my office this morning because of flood everywhere! Just this small rain, Lekki phase1, Lagos island marina, iyana Oworo, Adekunle before third mainland bridge just to mention few, #thisisLagos #IloveLagos #egobetter!!!,” Paul Chima, a Lagos resident complained on Twitter.
Below are some of the effects of the rain that fell from Wednesday, June 17 through the early hours of Thursday as shared by people on social media.
