INSECURITY: OBA ADEWALE THREATENS TO DEAL WITH TRADITIONAL RULERS WHO PROMOTE CRIMINALITY, VIOLENCE IN IKORODU

Oba Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu has promised to deal decisively with any traditional ruler or chief who promotes violence or criminality in his territory.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu disclosed this during a town hall meeting held with the Lagos State Police on Wednesday.

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police on Wednesday summoned a meeting with stakeholders in Ikorodu to find lasting solutions to the insecurity in the area.

Eons Intelligence gathered that the meeting was attended by the traditional rulers in Ikorodu including the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Adewale.

Others present at the meeting are market women, transport unions, youths councils, religious bodies, ethics groups, social clubs, locally based security outfits and other sister security agencies, including a host of others.

The Ikorodu area of Lagos had been bedeviled by security challenges which includes cultism, land grabbing, traffic robberies, and ritual killing.

Discussing how these nefarious activities can be nipped in the bud, it was agreed that all and sundry would work together to bring lasting peace to the area by performing these roles:

The traditional rulers must strongly condemn all acts of criminality and cultism in their areas and embrace community policing.

Landlords must stop harbouring criminals in their houses while youths and transporters must assist the police in identifying and flushing out criminals fomenting trouble amongst them.

The police also urged market women and religious leaders to use their links and platforms to condemn criminality in the area and preach peace.

The Oba also appealed to the Commissioner of Police to deploy more officers, adding that some communities willing to provide office accommodation and other logistics needed for additional police stations in areas where they are direly needed.
