INTELLIGENCE ESTIMATES: BOKO HARAM/ ISWAP PLANNING ANOTHER ATTACK TO FRUSTRATE GOVERNOR ZULUM'SZULUM'S IDP RESETTLEMENT PLANS
There are strong indications that Boko Haram/ISWAP members are mobilising assets to launch a 'Baga style' disruptive attack on Marte and Gwoza in the northern and southern parts of Borno state, impeccable sources have told Eons Intelligence.
Other locations targeted by the jihadists include Ngoshe, Kirawa, Hambagda, Ashigashiya and Warabe in Gwoza Local Government Area.
Intelligence reveals that the planned attack is to frustrate IDP resettlement plans by the Borno State government.
Key targets: Reconstruction workers, Borno state workers, security and Military personnel, INGOs and non-native speaking commuters are considered high-value targets for kidnap for ransom, ambush attacks, food and relief material diversion and cash seizure through mounting of illegal roadblocks. The challenging roads leading to Marte, Ngoshe and Kirawa are particularly vulnerable at specific hours of the day.
This is the first time the government of Borno is undertaking relocation plans for Marte, and other locations in Borno North considered to be strategic hideouts for Boko Haram /ISWAP units.
A successful relocation and resettlement of IDPs to their ancestral homes in Baga, Marte, Gwoza, etc. and reinstatement of civil authorities pending local government elections slated for November 28th 2020, would be a key indicator of the battlefield weakness of Boko Haram/ISWAP units in the 11th year of the insurgency in Borno State Nigeria.
