ONDO MIGHT GET ITS CURE FOR COVID-19 SOON - AKEREDOLU
Ondo State Government has said it might soon get its own traditional cure for COVID-19.
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the State Governor disclosed this while briefing the press on COVID-19 on Monday, May 18 at the Government House, Akure.
While speaking, Akeredolu noted that the cure will be clinically tested for authenticity following the laid down criteria for approval by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
He emphasized that, any cure that has not been clinically tested and approved should not be used as treatment for COVID-19 as it could be harmful.
"All the herbal combination and orthodox medicine, mostly being promoted and displayed on the social media and elsewhere, have not yet been authenticated and approved for clinical use" he said.
Akeredolu added that, he suspects community transmission as the latest COVID-19 case recorded in the State had no travel history.
The Governor urged residents of the State to report any suspected case of coronavirus in the State.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Sunday, May 17, Ondo has recorded 20 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 13 recoveries and 1 death.
