3 DIVISION/OPERATION SAFE HAVEN RECOVERS CACHE OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN BARKIN LADI, PLATEAU STATE

In a recent follow-on operation conducted by 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN in Fann District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State from 10th to 16th July 2024, a significant amount of arms and ammunition were recovered. The operation was initiated after a tactical team was attacked while trying to recover arms from a gunrunners' hideout in Sangasa Village, resulting in the unfortunate death of an immigration officer, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration CL Agwom.


During the week-long operations, the team was able to arrest 8 suspects and recover a large cache of weapons including AK-47 rifles, Dane guns, ammunition, military uniforms, swords, motorcycles, and other dangerous weapons from Ratas, Ratoso, and Sangasa Villages in Fann District. The recoveries further confirmed the district as a criminal enclave and efforts are being made to root out criminal activities. 


Furthermore, 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN has declared certain individuals wanted in connection to criminal activities in Fann District and urges the public to provide any credible information to aid in their arrest. The late Assistant Superintendent of Immigration Christopher Luka Agwom, who bravely sacrificed his life during the operation, was laid to rest in his community of Risek in Jos East Local Government Area.


The recovery of such a significant amount of arms and ammunition and the sacrifice made by Officer Agwom highlight the ongoing efforts of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens in Plateau State.
