REPAY THE GOOD PEOPLE OF EDO STATE WITH GOOD GOVERNANCE- ABDULSALAMI ABUBAKAR TELLS OBASEKI

General Abudulsalami Abubakar (retd.), former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, has urged Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to repay the people of the State with good governance as compensation for voting him Into office for the second time. 


He also commended the people of the State for the peaceful conduct of the election, urging other States to emulate Edo in future elections. 


The former military head disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, September 20 after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Obaseki winner of the governorship poll.

Abdulsalami said, “Your Excellency, Governor, it is our prayer that you will repay the good people of Edo State with all the ingredients of good governance, justice equity. 


"Once, again, accept our congratulations and may God guide you.”


Obaseki of PDP polled 307,955 votes to defeat his closest rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, of the All Progressives Congress, who got 223,619 votes. 


Obaseki ran against APC flag bearer Ize-Iyamu and 13 others.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has claimed that the Saturday election was not fair as Obaseki emerged winner, Eons Intelligence reports. 


It said there was Illicit tampering of election results to add up numbers for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and mark down the APC's.
