Six Kidnap Victims, Including Child, Rescued by Troops and Police in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, have rescued six kidnapped victims, including a child, during a joint clearance operation in Taraba State under Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA.

According to a statement, the rescue operation occurred in the early hours of 2 October 2025, following the abduction of passengers travelling in a Toyota Carina II vehicle from Katsina-Ala, Benue State. The kidnappers reportedly intercepted the vehicle near an abandoned checkpoint, forced it to a halt, and whisked the victims into the bush.

Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, troops of the 6 Brigade and police personnel launched a coordinated search of the surrounding area, which led to the successful rescue of six individuals — the driver and five passengers.

The rescued victims were identified as Mr. Terna Gbaya (43), Mr. Musa Adamu (55), Mrs. Rose Sor (35), Mrs. Lydia Vyiashima (40), Mrs. Comfort Iyofar (60), and a baby. They have since been reunited with their families, while efforts to apprehend the kidnappers and free any remaining victims are ongoing.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the swift and coordinated response between the troops and police, describing it as a testament to the growing synergy among security agencies in the fight against criminality in Taraba State.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing operations.
