SOLDIERS KILL SEVERAL BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN COUNTERATTACK TO RECLAIM SEIZED MARTE MILITARY BASE, DESTROY 7 GUN TRUCKS

In an apparent move to revenge the insurgents' attack and taking-over of the military base in Marte, Marte LGA of Borno State, the Nigerian military on Saturday killed several Boko Haram fighters and destroyed 7 of their gun trucks.



Eons Intelligence recalls that scores of machine-gun wielding fighters from the ISIS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) stormed the military base at Marte area overnight Friday into Saturday.

The jihadists successfully seized the base after the overnight clashes with the soldiers which was seen as a retaliation battle after they were repelled by military forces last week - a development which made them to mobilize more fighters to the base in the overnight raid.

As part of the efforts of the military to reclaim the base from the terrorists, troops of Operation TURA TAKAIBANGO in conjunction with the Air Task Force Operation LAFIYA DOLE, based on reliable information about the attack, ambushed the terrorists, engaged them in fierce gunfight which led to the killing of scores of the assailants and destruction of 7 gun trucks.



After the encounter, several terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds, however the gallant soldiers are currently on the trail of the fleeing ones.
