The Yobe State Police Command has alerted residents that there might be improvised explosive devices buried in about 7 towns across the State.

The police said it had discovered some explosive devices in Damaturu and Buni Yadi Local Government Areas of Yobe State, adding that it was “highly probable” that more explosives have been planted in other areas of the State.

The police warned farmers, especially those residing in Geidam, Damaturu, Tarmuwa, Dapchi, Kanamma, Gulani and Buni Yadi, to be vigilant and report any suspicious objects on their farms to the nearest police station.

The Yobe Police State Command spokesperson, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, shared case of a farmer identified Adamu Haruna who resides in Gujba LGA. According to the police, on June 20, Haruna found an unexploded bomb on his farm and unknowingly took it to his farm.

Unfortunately, the bomb exploded and severely injured Haruna while he was trying to dismantle it in his home.
