Tinubu Sends VP Shettima to Kebbi, Condoles Military Over Soldiers’ Deaths; Assures Rescue of Kidnapped Schoolgirls
President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to visit Kebbi State on Wednesday to commiserate with the state government and reassure families of the kidnapped schoolgirls that the Federal Government is committed to securing their swift release.
The President also extended condolences to the Nigerian military following the deaths of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other soldiers killed in action during an encounter with insurgents in Borno State.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed sadness over the abduction in Maga, noting that the attack occurred despite prior intelligence warnings. He commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts made to prevent the incident.
The President urged communities—particularly in security-prone areas—to actively support the military, police and DSS with timely information.
“As Commander-in-Chief, I am deeply pained by the tragic loss of our soldiers. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes,” he said.
“I am equally distressed that terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. I have directed security agencies to act swiftly and return the girls safely.”
Tinubu emphasized that effective security operations depend heavily on cooperation from citizens and local communities across the country.
