Troops Rescue 21 Kidnapped Victims in Kwara, Kogi States

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division and Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMA, have successfully rescued 21 kidnapped victims in a coordinated offensive against bandits and other criminal elements operating across Kwara and neighbouring states.

The operation, conducted on Friday, October 17, 2025, involved troops from the 12 Brigade, Lokoja, and 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin. The rescued victims comprised 14 males, five females, one infant, and four Chinese nationals who were reportedly abducted from different locations in Kwara and Kogi States.

Following intensified military operations, the bandits were forced to release the captives, some of whom had been held for over four months.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division and Commander Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMA, Major General C.R. Nnebeife, coordinated the rescue effort and ensured the victims received first aid and other relief items. He sympathised with the victims and reaffirmed the Division’s commitment to sustaining its ongoing offensive, stressing that there will be no hiding place for criminals within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

The victims, many of whom were physically weak from prolonged captivity, have been evacuated to a military medical facility for treatment and will be reunited with their families upon full recovery.

Major General Nnebeife also commended the Nigerian Air Force for its air support and appreciated other security agencies for their collaboration. He further lauded the troops for their dedication and directed the Brigades to sustain the momentum towards restoring peace and security across Kwara, Kogi, and adjoining states.
