Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover Weapons and Destroy IPOB/ESN Camp in Nationwide Operations
Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded major operational breakthroughs in Edo, Niger and Abia States, resulting in the rescue of a kidnap victim, recovery of arms and ammunition, and the destruction of an IPOB/ESN camp.
In Edo State, troops of 4 Brigade at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Udomi, working alongside local vigilantes, carried out a search-and-rescue operation on 29 August 2025 in Ugboha Community, Esan South East Local Government Area. The operation followed a report of a kidnap incident. One civilian, who had been abducted on 27 August while heading to his farm in Amedokhaian Community, was successfully rescued. Efforts are underway to reunite the victim with his family.
In Niger State, troops of FOB Babanna conducted a fighting patrol around Babanna Town in Borgu Local Government Area and nearby villages. During the operation, soldiers recovered one AK-47 magazine containing 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition abandoned by insurgents during an earlier encounter on 28 August.
Similarly, in Abia State, troops of 14 Brigade Garrison, led by the Commander, stormed an IPOB/ESN camp in Ihechowa, Arochukwu Local Government Area. Although no contact was made with the criminals, troops discovered evidence of human activity, including obstacles and sentry posts. Items recovered included two motorcycles, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) with accessories, a pair of military boots, four Biafra flags, and four jerrycans of fuel. The troops subsequently destroyed the camp, which carried banners with inscriptions such as National Research and Production, Biafra Provincial Govt Bende Division, and Biafra Military Depot.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding citizens and dismantling criminal networks across the country.
