Troops Storm Kajuru Forests, Rescue Six Kidnap Victims in Kaduna
Troops of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have successfully rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated security operation in the Kajuru/Kujama general area of Kaduna State.
The rescue was carried out on January 5, 2026, as part of ongoing, intelligence-driven clearance operations across several local government areas, including Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko, as well as border communities around Kauru. The operations are aimed at restricting the activities and movement of violent extremists within the Joint Operations Area.
According to military sources, troops of Sub-Sector 5, who were already conducting clearance operations in the Kujeni area, swiftly responded to a distress alert on the movement of armed criminals around the Kasso adjoining hills. On arrival, the troops engaged the suspects with suppressive fire, forcing them to flee into nearby forests.
Following the encounter, troops exploited the area and successfully rescued six kidnapped victims. The victims were subsequently handed over to officials of Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for reunification with their families.
Commending the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, the General Officer Commanding and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, urged personnel to remain vigilant and sustain offensive operations to deny criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
