INDUSTRIAL COURT ORDERS KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR SIMON ACHUBA N180M
The National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Kogi State Government to pay the former deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, the sum of N180 million.
Achuba had in 2019 listed the allowances he claimed are due to his office and asked the court to declare that the Government was wrong to have withheld the allowances.
He asked for the sum of N921,572,758 for security vote, monthly imprest, traveling allowances, outstanding memos, and statutory allocations due to his office, as then deputy Governor.

While delivering the judgement on Wednesday, in Abuja, Justice Oyebiola Oyewunmi said the sum of N180 million will be paid to Achuba as outstanding security votes due to him from April 2018 to August 2019.
The amount is to be paid to Achuba by the State Government within the period of 30 days or 30% interest will be paid monthly.
The court, however, dismissed the former deputy governor’s application, asking that the sum of N328million and N32,000 be paid as part of imprest when he was in office.

The State House of Assembly impeached Achuba in October 2019, hours after receiving the report of the impeachment panel from the Chief Judge of the state, Nadir Ajana.
