BEIRUT EXPLOSION: INJURED WIFE OF DUTCH AMBASSADOR TO LEBANON DIES

The wife of Dutch ambassador to Lebanon Jan Waltmans who was wounded in Tuesday's Beirut explosion has died of her injuries. 


 The Netherlands' foreign ministry announced in a statement released on Saturday, August 8.


"It is with dismay and great sadness that we report the death of our colleague Hedwig Waltmans-Molier. She succumbed to injuries sustained in the massive explosion in Beirut," a ministry statement said.


The 55-year-old was hit by debris from the explosion shortly after returning to Lebanon from holiday with her husband of 38 years.


Mrs Waltmans was standing in her living room next to her husband when she was hit by the explosion the Netherland's ministry revealed.
